Ortho-Development - Balanced Knee System Revision
“Ortho Development presented the designers with two specific requirements for their catalog. First, they wanted it to be printed on a premier material that would showcase their products in a unique way. Secondly, it needed to be functional as well as durable, to withstand use as a reference manual in the environment of an orthopedic operating room.”

Internal Weather
By: Mara Barker

Internal Weather
“Drinking straws, tubing, surgical tape, two peristaltic pumps, black tempera and dish soap on YUPO paper. Installation at Around the Coyote Gallery, Chicago IL. The machine ran for a total of 17 minutes over a period of three weeks. The Internal Weather project was an active reflection on what it means to saturate, to overflow, and to refuse containment. The installations consisted of humming pumps which circulated different liquids through the straws. The viewer experienced the straws shaking under the pressure of the pumps and the constant failure of the straws to contain the liquids. Leaks, breaks, popping sounds and mini-geysers were all integral parts of the work. The residue or the “trace” of the action was critical to the work. The non-absorbent, durable nature of YUPO paper allowed for large amounts of liquids to pool at the base of the installation. These liquids slowly evaporated leaving a tangible residue of the process on the surface of the YUPO paper.”

Start Here Linkable Notebooks
“We used the YUPO material in a way that its never really been used before. We constructed YUPO into a functional mechanism instead of printing graphics/art on it. Our customers love the YUPO material, especially how it's incorporated into a daily object that they carry and use constantly (It is the first Linkable Notebook!). Start Here customers link notebooks endlessly with plans, thoughts, doodles and goals of their own. And YUPO white covers provided a "blank canvas" to decorate and 'go all-out' with personal touches. LOVE IT!”

“Californication with David Duchovny shown underwater was printed on YUPO paper, which we referred to as “pool liner” paper. The booklet was then inserted in a liquid filled folder to add the underwater idea.”

Johnson Controls Color Wheel Chart
“The Wheel was used to provide information gathered in a consumer research study. YUPO stock was chosen for its durability while using the wheels, the stock has a unique feel to it - a feeling of softness and quality, but it also has more of a “manufacturing” look. The stock lent itself to the image the client wanted to portray for its study. This piece was printed on YUPO FIG350. Ink: 4CP + PMS Cool Gray 9 +AQ. The folder was die-cut and heat scored. The wheels were also die-cut and these four components were assembled together with two spacers to separate the wheels and a stiffener and held together with a plastic fastener. Finally the tabs on three sides of the folder were folded over and glued.”
