It goes without saying these days that our products, process and promises have to address environmental concerns. Not as a marketing gimmick or because it's good PR, but because it's the right thing to do.
There was a time that what happened behind the walls of the factory or on the shop floor was the company's concern alone, well out of the public's consciousness and far away from prying eyes of competitors. Whatever it took to bring the finished product to market: proprietary secrets, tricks of the trade, spare no expense to get it just so. Other than the accountants, who cared if your production process created some waste here or used excess there? Just as long as the widgets were shiny, sparkling, and spotless on the shelves...
