Yupo’s RIT Certified Product Provides Options for Creatives, Printers, and Clients DALLAS -- Attendees here at Dscoop 5 should once again find YUPOBlue® a popular topic of conversation. Answering industry demand for a premium grade solution specifically made for and certified to run on the HP Indigo line of digital printers, YUPOBlue has surpassed the premium synthetic manufacturer’s lofty expectations. “Naturally, we’re pleased with how well YUPOBlue has been received by the market. The paper has more than met our most optimistic hopes,” said Brad Van Zandt, Digital Manager for Yupo. “We seem to have answered that industry demand with YUPOBlue.” Since Yupo’s digital synthetic paper was certified at RIT for HP Indigo, Dscoop has naturally been a headline destination on YUPOBLue’s annual sales calendar. And, this year in Dallas, Yupo representatives will again be networking with conference-goers at their floor booth featuring the powerful and arresting images of the company’s “Touch” branding campaign. “Customers seemed to have found it to be the perfect choice for short-run and customized pieces,” he said. “The combination of YUPOBlue and HP Indigo gives both creatives and printers the flexibility of using a superior substrate on those printing projects that must meet tight deadlines.” Using YUPOBlue on the Indigo printer as opposed to using a traditional offset printer makes it possible to do short runs and customized pieces quickly and easily. Best of all, HP Indigo inks won’t run or smear on YUPOBlue, because the ink actually adheres to YUPO’s surface; thus, there is little to no smear, chipping or scratching, Van Zandt said. Among synthetic papers YUPOBlue exhibits superior dimensional stability, according to Van Zandt, but perhaps no other measure is as important as the coveted top-level “3 Star” substrate certification HP awarded YUPOBlue. The unique opportunity to customize print one-to-one marketing messages with HP Indigo’s variable printing capabilities is part of what makes YUPOBlue such a popular paper product these days. Faster drying time is increasingly important in one-to-one marketing, and YUPOBlue meets that critical need with flying colors – literally and figuratively. YUPO’s renowned synthetic attributes - 100 percent waterproof, bright whiteness and tear-resistance – are naturally part of YUPOBlue, and makes it great choice for menus, outdoor materials, direct mail, brochures and more. But according to Van Zandt, perhaps what’s most valuable is simply knowing that a product like YUPOBlue exists. In the past, designers, printers and their clients may have suffered through unresolved problems -- or worse, missed opportunities -- that called for a substrate with YUPOBlue’s capabilities. “It would be a shame if a client’s communications options were somehow limited due to lack of awareness or understanding of our product,” he said. To ensure that more people in the HP community are more aware of YUPOBlue, Van Zandt plans to have a sizable presence at this year’s Dscoop. Yupo technical experts and sales representatives will attend Dscoop5 where they will answer questions, share samples, and discuss YUPOBlue’s capabilities with attendees. “We encourage printers and creatives to contact us and request a YUPOBlue sample pack,” Van Zandt said. “We’re confident that once people have put it through its paces, they’ll appreciate what YUPOBlue can do for their current or future projects.” Currently, YUPOBlue Synthetic is available in four weights of 12” X 18” sheets – a 78 lb., 5.9 mil. text; a 58 lb., 8.0 mil. cover; a 74 lb., 9.9 mil. cover; and a 86 lb., 11.6 mil. cover. YUPOBlue is not compatible for use with inkjet or laser printers.
