A distinguished panel of three judges recently selected three designs for top honors in Yupo Corporation America’s sixth annual “Wally Awards.” The three Wally Award winners were chosen from over 35 submissions of projects created on YUPO ranging from brochures, labels and menus to posters, maps and watercolor paintings. The winners include a pocket guide, training manual and brochure, which best showcas the unique attributes of YUPO® Synthetic Paper and exemplify creativity, originality, and functionality. The winning entries are also featured on wallyawards.com.
“The judges really took their time and put a lot of thought into picking their selections,” says Martin Fiorillo, Vice President of Marketing and Distribution Sales, Yupo Corporation America. “The reasoning behind each of their selections was most interesting.”
Winners of the 2008 Wally Awards will receive a cash prize of US$1,000 and a customized Wally Award statue.

Kwikpoint
The MTV VUG takes advantage of the lightweight, waterproof and tear-proof attributes of YUPO, together with its smooth tactile feel and high-resolution print surface, to support the detailed graphics needed for the product. Moreover, because of its ability to hold form in extreme conditions better than competing synthetic products, YUPO supported the installation of a secure two-piece grommet and tether cord that keeps the guide attached to the product and secured inside a specially designed canvas pocket. YUPO’s unique strength supports this security mechanism and keeps the guide attached to the product, allowing for repeated in-and-out-of-the-pocket use.

Cfx
Anheuser-Busch, Inc. approached Cfx with a request to create a special training manual for their Belgian Draught Experience (BDE) held at the Beer Academy in Schaumburg, Illinois. The book needed to be flexible, tear-proof and most importantly “beer proof.” The versatility of YUPO was a great match for this project and we even soaked a few sheets in a glass of beer over 24 hours. Specs: Six-color job, four-color process with two PMS colors; PMS Gold 874 and a special mixture of Stella-Red. Format was 24 leaves, 6x6 with rounded corners, drilled and held together with a single post screw.
